Have you seen the documentary “Who Killed The Electric Car”?

Question by martinmagini: Have you seen the documentary “Who Killed The Electric Car”?
Ever wonder why it all happened? Who actually was against having the EV1? Why car companies act like it’s so difficult to come up with a good electric car when it had already been done years ago? Who wanted to keep us dependent on oil? I wish I could figure it out.

Yes. Excellent doc. Gee, not sure who benefited from an oil-less car. …hm…..

What is the difference between a battery and a acumulator?

Question by Mark N: What is the difference between a battery and a acumulator?
I would like to know with scientific base what is the difference between the two. I know that a battery cannot be recharged (the kind we use for our portable radios and flashlight that you have to throw away after depleted), and a accumulator can be recharged (like a car “battery” – wrongly named?).

Best answer:

Answer by The One Who Knows (Swamy)
A battery is simply a collection of cells which may or may not be rechargeable. An accumulator is a rechargeable battery.

For example a 9V battery has 6 of 1.5 V dry cells connected in series to give 9V. It is not rechargeable. However a 12V Lead Acid battery will have 6 lead acid cells of 2V each so that we get 12V. And that will be an accumulator.

What do you think about the “Who killed the Electric Car” documentary?

Question by 120: What do you think about the “Who killed the Electric Car” documentary?
Could there be collusion among GM, Toyota, Nissan, Chrysler, etc, or rather -put it simply – the US Government told them “forget it and pull it off the Market; we cannot afford to lose Taxes”, kinda offer they could not refuse…?

Best answer:

Answer by what did i do to deserve this
I have not seen this documentary but I have long said that the replacement of the internal combustion engine dependent on petroleum-based fuel has been available for many years but has been kept off the market by exactly this means – US (and other nations) government influence on the ever willing auto companies to keep things the status quo. Govt will only allow alternate energy resources to exist as they learn to profit from them in taxes as they have been able to do so from gasoline, etc. They haven’t been able to figure out how to tax fuel made from other sources yet so they’ve prevented it from happening. Interesting that someone would do a doc on this subject.
